Leighton Asia has received a A$436m ($327m) contract from the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region to build East Kowloon Cultural Centre.
The company is a division of CPB Contractors and is a subsidiary of Australian construction firm Cimic Group.

Set to begin this month, the works will include construction of a three-storey building, three 120-250-seat studios, a 1,200-capacity auditorium and a 550-seat theatre.
Cimic Group CEO Adolfo Valderas said: “We are pleased to contribute our engineering expertise and innovative building solutions to help reinvigorate the eastern Kowloon region and provide significant socioeconomic benefits for its people and communities.”
Leighton Asia will also build ancillary facilities such as an under-stage area and semi-basement areas for plant rooms.
CPB Contractors and Leighton Asia managing director Román Garrido said: “We have built a strong working relationship with the Hong Kong Government and it our privilege to provide our local experience and international expertise to ensure successful project delivery.”

By GlobalDataConstruction on the performing arts complex is estimated to be completed in 2020.
The East Kowloon Cultural Centre will also include a large rehearsal room, two connectable rehearsal rooms, box office, cloakroom, restaurant and an enquiry counter.
Set to be built on a 2.16ha site, the complex will be located on part of the former Lower Ngau Tau Kok Estate.
It was designed by Rocco Yim and the Architectural Services Department.
