Construction is underway of an outpatient treatment and support building at the Harbor-UCLA Medical Center campus in West Carson, California, US.
Abbott Construction is undertaking the construction of the new 400,000ft2 outpatient treatment and support building.
Currently, critical work is being undertaken to prepare way for the replacement hospital. This work includes electrical and telecommunication duct banks, domestic and fire water lines, storm system infrastructure, and other low voltage utilities.
Given that the current hospital is active and serving patients, the construction work surrounding it is organised.
Abbott Construction Southern California vice president for construction operations Michael Sloane said: “Protecting Harbor-UCLA’s daily operations is our first priority.
“We’re phasing this work so that patients and staff can access the services they need at all times.”

By GlobalDataThe 72-acre site at Harbor-UCLA Medical Center is a Level 1 Trauma Center, and one of the three public teaching hospitals in LA County.
Abbott Construction president and CEO Troy Stedman said: “Building public health facilities is some of the most meaningful work we do.

Recently, Abbott Construction built the new Restorative Care Village, an eight-building behavioural health campus, at Olive View-UCLA Medical Center.
