The Nottingham City Council has issued a planning consent for property investment and development group Conygar Investment’s phase 1A of the £650m Island Quarter mixed-use development in Nottingham, UK.
The first phase of the development, called Canal Turn, involves the construction of a three-storey pavilion featuring two restaurants, events space and a large rooftop terrace.

Construction on the Canal Turn is planned to commence in November 2020.
The Island Quarter scheme involves the transformation of the 40-acre former Boots Island site and developing over two million ft² including offices, apartments among others.
The project will comprise new homes, Grade A office space, creative market space, a five-star hotel, retail units, a ‘linear’ park and community space and student accommodation.

Designed by architect Jestico + Whiles, the scheme is being built on location which was previously called Boots Island.
Nottingham City Council leader David Mellen said: “Not many places have the opportunity to create a new addition to their city like this, with 40 acres of land prime for redevelopment so close to the city centre.
“It will become a major asset to Nottingham, connecting nearby neighbourhoods to the city centre through an area long overdue for redevelopment.
“The plans to provide a mix of places to live, work and play will perfectly complement the other redevelopments across the southside area, and hopefully this first phase is a sign of the quality of the developments to come on site.”
The Island Quarter mixed-use development is said to be a vital part of the regeneration of Nottingham’s Southside.
