Oak Hills Constructors has been selected by the Utah Department of Transportation (UDOT) for the US-89 Farmington to I-84 project in Davis and Weber Counties, Utah.
Oak Hills Constructors is a joint venture between Sterling Construction’s subsidiary, Ralph L. Wadsworth, and Granite Construction.

The $348m design-build project includes widening of nine miles of US-89 from two lanes in each direction to three, construction of four new interchanges, and two grade separated intersections.
Planned to be completed in 2023, the project involves broadening the current frontage road system to support local traffic in accessing the new interchanges and crossings in a better way.
Additionally, the team will excavate two million cubic yards of material and relocate 150 miles of utilities.
Furthermore, Granite facilities will provide around 300,000 tons of hot-mix asphalt and 100,000 tons of base rock for the project.

By GlobalDataThe project is expected to employ an average of 150 people. Sterling expects booking its 40% portion of the total contract value award in its fourth quarter 2019 backlog.

“Importantly, as a design-build contract, we were selected for this work based on our collective qualifications, as opposed to a low-bid, which reflects our level of experience and expertise with large scale heavy civil infrastructure improvement.”
Sterling Construction’s another subsidiary Myers & Sons Construction has been selected by the California Department of Transportation for the construction of three bridges in California, worth $26.4m.
The project consists of retrofitting three different bridges with work planned to start in May 2020 and complete in September 2021.
