Nanyang Technological University Singapore (NTU Singapore) is planning to establish a new wooden academic building with a $180m investment.
Spread across 40,000ft², the construction academic building is scheduled for completion in 2021.

The six-storey building will be designed by RSP Architects Planners Engineers and house the Nanyang Business School. It will also be used for the activities of several other colleges and schools.
The company will use Mass-Engineered Timber material for the construction of this building. The material will be procured from renewable forests and prefabricated for on-site installation.
NTU Singapore president Subra Suresh said: “NTU’s new academic building will be our most ambitious sustainable construction project to date.
“95% of our buildings are already certified Green Mark Platinum, and we are seeking to be the greenest university campus in the world. Bringing together our approaches to innovation and sustainability, the new academic building will be the largest wooden building in Asia, and it will exemplify our distinctive NTU Smart Campus and show that we ‘walk the talk’ of our commitment to sustainability.”

By GlobalDataThe building will also feature 25 smart classrooms equipped with the new technologies in a move to support the university’s flipped classroom pedagogy.
These classrooms will enable students to learn course content online, as well as get face time with professors, classmates and industry partners for collaborative learning.
