According to NCC, the housing will provide accommodation for nearly 500 students adjacent to Chalmers University of Technology.

The project includes mainly one-bedroom flats, with duo and duplex units featured in the tallest building. Plans also involve spaces for a café, restaurant and offices totalling approximately 2,500m2.

Chalmers Studentbostäder CEO Joakim Wallin said: “Following a meticulous evaluation of tenders, interviews and project organisations, we chose NCC because the company met our high standards and is a reliable and professional partner for the project.”

The Nya Holtermanska project will be among the first in Sweden to follow new building regulations and easements for student housing established by the Swedish National Board of Housing, Building and Planning, which came into legal effect on 1 July 2025.

Construction is set to begin in early 2026, with completion scheduled for 2028.

The project will be registered in the first quarter of 2026 within the NCC Building Sweden business area. It will be environmentally certified as per the Miljöbyggnad Gold standard.

NCC Building Sweden head Niklas Sparw said: “Nya Holtermanska is an exciting project in the heart of Gothenburg. NCC will utilise both our broad expertise in residential construction and our experience of building in central locations. We are now looking forward to building more student housing in Gothenburg and meeting our customer’s high demands in terms of quality and implementation.”

In September last year, NCC was commissioned by Jönköping Municipality in Sweden to construct a new nursing home and group home including earth and groundworks.
