Canada’s Toronto Pearson International Airport has awarded contracts to NORR-DIALOG and PCL Construction for a C$1.5bn ($1bn) revitalisation project covering Terminal 1 and Terminal 3.
Known as the Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 Revitalization Program, the initiative aims to upgrade existing facilities and modernise the travel experience for millions of annual travellers.

The work was awarded to NORR-DIALOG, a joint venture between two Ontario-based firms, and PCL Construction, a Canadian construction company.
The programme is intended to modernise ageing infrastructure, expand capacity and improve operational efficiency within the terminals.
Toronto Pearson president and CEO Deborah Flint said: “This investment marks another significant milestone in Pearson LIFT and demonstrates our momentum in modernising Pearson that will meet customer expectations.
“We’re elevating the travel experience so Toronto Pearson can continue its part in fuelling Canada’s economy by welcoming more passenger growth and offering better customer experience.”
The programme includes plans for expanded terminal spaces, updated lounges, enhanced baggage processing systems, additional in-terminal charging stations, modernised check-in areas, and new security screening technology.
Upgrades to gates and passenger processing areas, as well as customs and immigration facilities, are also expected.
Construction will be scheduled in phases to minimise disruption for travellers and airlines, while maintaining airport operations.
Planning, architecture, engineering, and integrated design activities will be led by NORR-DIALOG, with PCL Construction appointed as Construction Manager at Risk.
The project is described as creating a stronger foundation for future growth and improvements to the passenger journey.
The Terminal 1 and Terminal 3 Revitalization Program is the second major component of Pearson LIFT, an airport renewal plan by Toronto Pearson.
