The Government of Western Australia (WA) has awarded the detailed design development contract for the Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct to an alliance comprising Seymour Whyte, Civmec, and Aurecon.
This alliance will work closely with the state’s Office of Major Infrastructure Delivery to advance the planning and detailed design process, ensuring that community ideas and input are thoroughly considered.
The Perth Entertainment and Sporting Precinct in Burswood Park aims to establish an entertainment hub that supports the local community and park visitors while boosting the state’s ability to host diverse arts, cultural, and sporting events.
The precinct will comprise an outdoor amphitheatre (accommodating 15,000-20,000 people), a multipurpose building with event and function spaces, and a track suitable for Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile-approved supercars and transport connections.
WA Sport and Recreation Minister Rita Saffioti said: “This is an iconic project that will see the Burswood precinct realise its full potential, delivering significant economic benefits for the state, along with quality public infrastructure for the local and wider community.
“The alliance team we’re bringing on board to deliver this project are behind some of the most iconic infrastructure projects we’ve seen in this state, including the recently completed Boorloo Bridge.

The Seymour Whyte, Civmec, and Aurecon consortium was named as the preferred alliance for the project last week.
The team is set to progress design, approvals, and early works over the coming months.
Construction work on the precinct is expected to be completed in 2027.
In September 2024, Seymour Whyte was awarded two contracts worth approximately A$340m ($231.87m) to upgrade road infrastructure in both Sydney and Melbourne, Australia.
