The Sri Lankan government has signed an agreement with China to build the $100m Lotus Tower Building in the Sri Lankan capital Colombo.
The 350m multi-faceted tower will house 50 television services, 50 broadcasting services and ten telecommunications providers.

Director general of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission Anusha Pelpita said that the tower will have a major impact on Sri Lanka’s communication and information technology sector.
The top floor of the tower will feature an observation floor offering views of Colombo, while the base of the tower will have four levels of shopping and restaurants.
The tower will be built in a 20-acre area with space for a leisure park, roller coasters and other modern leisure facilities.
A Chinese firm will carry out the construction work and the project will be supervised by the director general of the Central Cultural Fund of Sri Lanka and the head of the architectural division of the Moratuwa University.

The third floor will have a reception hall with the capacity to accommodate 1,000 people.
Construction of the Lotus Tower is scheduled for completion in 30 months and will be funded by EXIM Bank of China.
