Norwegian postal service Posten Bring Norge has selected Veidekke to construct the framework of a new logistics facility in Lyseparken, located to the south of Bergen.

The turnkey agreement is valued at nearly Nkr280m ($27.5m), excluding VAT.

The logistics centre will span 22,000m² and will feature 156 loading bays along its exterior.

The facility will also feature a two-storey office area measuring 2,200m².

Thor Småbrekke, district manager at Veidekke Bygg Bergen, said: “We are proud and pleased to have won the competition for the building shell and external works for what will become Posten Bring’s new main terminal for parcels and freight in Western Norway.

“In recent years, Veidekke has built several logistics centres for Posten Bring in other parts of the country, and we are very grateful to have earned their trust this time in our own region.”

Construction is set to commence immediately, with an anticipated completion date in March 2027.

The new facility will enhance parcel handling capacity, tripling the capabilities of the existing terminals at Minde and Jekteviken, the construction firm said in a press release.

Posten Bring director of real estate Edvard Nervik said: “We are very pleased to have signed this contract with Veidekke, allowing us to begin construction of our new logistics centre in Lyseparken.

“This project is crucial for fulfilling our societal mission of delivering mail, parcels, and freight to and from Bergen and the surrounding areas. We have extensive experience working with Veidekke on several of our recent facilities and are confident they will once again deliver a high-quality building for Posten Bring.”

The selection of the contractor was heavily influenced by climate and environmental factors, according to the announcement.

Veidekke said that this contract will be reflected in its order book for the third quarter of 2025.

Recently, Veidekke was commissioned to construct a multipurpose facility, Bjarg Arena, in Bergen, for the Bjarg Sports Club.

The turnkey contract, valued at Nkr116m, excluding VAT, involves building a 5,000m² facility.

Bjarg Arena will feature a handball hall with 230 spectator seats, a basketball hall, an activity hall, a gym, running tracks, and more.
