Turner Construction Company has been selected by JMA Ventures as the general contractor for Westcourt Orlando, a $500m mixed-use development in downtown Orlando, Florida, next to the Kia Center, home of the NBA’s Orlando Magic.
The 900,000ft² project will feature a Kimpton hotel, residential units, office space, retail and a live entertainment venue.
Plans for Westcourt Orlando include high-rise residences, a full-service hotel, office and meeting space, entertainment and dining options, a live events venue and on-site parking.
The project received land use entitlements in April 2024. Developers have positioned the scheme as a walkable district linked to activity around the arena.
Project components listed for Westcourt Orlando include 125,000ft² of entertainment and dining-focused retail space, a 265-key lifestyle hotel and 269 high-rise residential units.
The plan also sets out approximately 300,000ft² of Class A office space, a 3,500-capacity live event venue and 1,140 on-site parking spaces.
Early site activity has started as the team moves towards full mobilisation. At peak, the project could support about 800 workers on site, with an estimated 1,600 direct construction jobs over the life of the project.
JMA Ventures also expects trade partners to come from the Central Florida market, with work packages structured to support participation across multiple parts of the build.
Turner Construction Company vice-president and general manager Jeff Justen said: “JMA Ventures has a clear vision for what Westcourt Orlando can become, and we're grateful for the opportunity to help bring it to life.
“A project like this demands coordination across dozens of trades working simultaneously on very different building types — that's the challenge we're built for. We're looking forward to putting a strong Central Florida workforce behind it.”
Earlier this month, The Haslam Sports Group (HSG), alongside the joint venture of AECOM Hunt and Turner Construction Company and HKS, announced the groundbreaking of the new Huntington Bank Field, which is planned to host Cleveland Browns games from the 2029 season.
The new venue aims to become Ohio’s first enclosed stadium, with a planned capacity of up to 75,000 attendees. Plans also include a mixed-use entertainment district next to the stadium.
