Thrivent has begun construction on the Evergreen Operations Center, the first significant building within the planned Wilden Portfolio Park in Appleton, Wisconsin, US.
The Evergreen Operations Center building is being developed to serve approximately 1,400 of Thrivent’s local employees.
The facility will offer a variety of working spaces to accommodate hybrid, remote and on-site work, as well as areas for collaboration and focused tasks.
Thrivent chief legal officer, general counsel and secretary Paul Johnston said: “Appleton has been central to Thrivent's story for generations, making this an especially meaningful milestone for our organisation.
“Today's groundbreaking reflects years of collaboration with community partners and marks an important step forward for the Appleton property. It's gratifying to see that vision become reality as construction begins on the Evergreen Operations Center.”
Located just off I-41 at 4321 N. Ballard Road, the Evergreen Operations Center marks the beginning of a multi-phase development.
The broader Wilden Portfolio Park will span approximately 600 acres surrounding Thrivent's Appleton campus, with a projected development value of more than $600m at full buildout.
The development aims to include residential, office, commercial, hospitality and public amenities, shaped through input from the City of Appleton and the local community.
The initial phase is expected to generate $211m in new property value.
Planned elements include 75 single-family homes, 105 low-income multi-family units, 83 senior multi-family units and 289 additional multi-family residences.
Additional components feature a 76,500ft² grocery store, three commercial buildings, a 120-room hotel, a 100,000ft² office building and another 120,156ft² building.
The first wave of work will focus on constructing infrastructure such as new roads, pavements and sewage systems, with building construction slated to begin in late 2027 or early 2028.
The long-term plan for Wilden Portfolio Park includes the integration of open spaces, recreational areas and public trails.
The goal is to create a mixed-use community developed with local input and designed to serve both residents and businesses in north-east Wisconsin.
