STRABAG Sp. z o.o., the Polish arm of the international construction firm STRABAG, has secured two contracts valued at around €147m ($173m) for road modernisation projects in Poland.
The contracts reinforce STRABAG's position in the mobility infrastructure sector. The first project involves the extensive renovation of the DK25 national road, a vital north-south route linking the A2 motorway and S11 expressway.
The Polish motorway authority, GDDKiA, has entrusted STRABAG with the longest segment of this project, an 18km stretch from Zbiersk to Kokanin.
The upgrade will expand the road to two lanes in each direction and include the construction of eleven engineering structures, such as six road viaducts and four service viaducts.
Scheduled for completion in the latter half of 2029, the project aims to enhance road safety and reduce travel times for local communities, while incorporating wildlife crossings and noise barriers to mitigate environmental impacts.
The second contract falls under the EU-funded initiative “Tram for Łódź,” which focuses on urban development through the reconstruction of approximately 130 roads in Łódź. STRABAG will modernise Broniewskiego Street, enhancing connectivity between residential areas and the city centre.
This project includes widening the street for tram tracks, upgrading tram junctions, and creating dedicated cycling infrastructure.
Completion is expected by the end of 2027, with the project designed to improve traffic flow and reduce emissions, thereby contributing to a better urban microclimate.
STRABAG executive board member Péter Glöckler said: “These projects further demonstrate STRABAG’s expertise in modern mobility infrastructure.
“One in every 4km of motorway and expressway in Poland has been built by STRABAG, highlighting our significant contribution to the country’s infrastructure development while reinforcing our presence in a dynamic market with excellent long-term growth prospects.”
In 2025, STRABAG completed 137km of roads in Poland, demonstrating its reliability as a partner in the national road network.
With 38 years of experience in the country, the company has constructed a total of 1,218km of motorways and expressways, representing about a quarter of Poland's national network.
STRABAG's workforce of approximately 7,400 employees is also engaged in various major projects, including the modernisation of Maksymilianowo railway station, the redevelopment of a former coal mine in Katowice into a technology hub, the expansion of Wrocław Airport, and the construction of the Upper One in Warsaw, a high-rise office tower standing at 131m.
