Construction company Skanska has secured two new renovation contracts in the US, totalling a value of $158m.

The first contract, an amendment with the City of Redmond, is for the expansion of the Redmond Municipal Airport in Oregon.

Valued at approximately Skr1.0bn ($98m), this project will be included in the company's US order bookings for the second quarter (Q2) of 2025.

The expansion of the Redmond Municipal Airport includes over 7,400m² of concourse expansion and terminal renovation.

The project will introduce new gates with jet bridges, retail spaces, and concessions.

The expansion will feature a mass timber roof structure and is designed to meet increasing capacity demands, enhance Americans with Disabilities Act accessibility, improve energy efficiency, and elevate the passenger experience.

Construction is set to begin this month and is expected to reach completion by January 2028.

In addition to the airport project, Skanska has signed a contract with the University of North Carolina at Greensboro for the reconstruction of the Walter Clinton Jackson Library.

This contract, worth roughly Skr620m, will also be recorded in Q2.

The renovation will encompass the university's original 1950s four-storey library and a nine-storey tower addition from the 1970s, covering approximately 21,700m².

The library's transformation will integrate high-tech group study areas, central convening spaces, and expanded capacity for individual student use, positioning it as a hub for academic research.

Construction on the university library commenced in May 2025 and is anticipated to be completed by late 2027.

These contracts follow Skanska's recent $274m contract from the Massachusetts Department of Transportation for the design and replacement of the Rourke Bridge in Lowell, and a supplemental contract from Virginia Tech for the construction of a new College of Engineering building.
