Construction and engineering company Sisk has been appointed as the main contractor for the next stage of the Battersea Power Station development, a 42-acre regeneration scheme on London’s riverside.

The construction firm will deliver two buildings designed by Gehry Partners as part of Phase 3C, with work scheduled to begin in summer 2026.

The new buildings are set to complete Electric Boulevard, the area’s pedestrianised high street.

The plans include approximately 300 residential units, 65,000ft² of commercial space hosting cafes, shops and restaurants, a 15,000ft² Community Hub and an expanded bike hub offering 600 free spaces. Phase 3C is expected to generate 400 jobs.

Project organisers aim for 20% of these roles to be filled by local residents, a recruitment target that has already been surpassed during previous stages, which created 7,500 jobs at the site.

The buildings designed by Gehry Partners will extend the Prospect Place development, which is now fully occupied and remains the only completed residential project in the UK by architect Frank Gehry.

The design includes carbon-reduction measures and green roofs, which are expected to deliver at least a 10% net gain in biodiversity.

Battersea Power Station Development Company CEO James Saunders said: “Phase 3C will complete Electric Boulevard, a critical part of the estate which continues to grow from strength to strength with new brand openings, office tenants and a new entrance to our Zone 1 Underground Station which opened last year.

“We look forward to working with Sisk to add two further Gehry Partners’ designed buildings to the inspiring, world-class architecture that defines Electric Boulevard and frames the iconic Grade II listed Power Station.”

Sisk Ireland and UK COO Steven McGee said: “Battersea Power Station is one of London’s most iconic regeneration projects and we are proud to have been appointed as main contractor for this next phase of development.

“This is a significant appointment for Sisk and reflects our growing capability in the UK residential sector.”

The appointment follows Battersea Power Station’s selection of Studio Egret West to lead the planning and landscaping of the remaining 16 acres of the riverside precinct, revising the masterplan created by Rafael Viñoly over 15 years ago.

The second half of the masterplan could eventually provide up to 3.2 million square feet of new residences, commercial areas, cultural venues and leisure facilities.

This phase is part of the wider seven-phase Battersea Power Station redevelopment scheme that has an estimated value of £9bn ($11.8bn).

Since opening in 2022, Battersea Power Station has welcomed more than 40 million visitors and now includes over 2,200 homes, 800,000ft² of office space and 170 brands.
