The Province of British Columbia in Canada has selected construction company Pomerleau for the second phase of the Belleville Terminal Redevelopment Project in Victoria's Inner Harbour.

Pomerleau has recently concluded contract negotiations for the project.

The Belleville Terminal Redevelopment Project - Phase II aims to establish an international gateway for travellers and goods moving between British Columbia and the US.

It is being designed in accordance with the Canada-U.S. Land, Rail, Marine and Air Transport Preclearance Agreement, allowing for a streamlined customs and immigration process in Victoria before passengers reach the US.

Pomerleau president and chief executive officer Philippe Adam said: "At Pomerleau, we believe great infrastructure builds great communities. The Belleville Terminal Redevelopment Project is critical to the region and will provide a safe and secure modern port of entry - we are very proud to bring our technical expertise and collaborative approach to the table".

Pomerleau Buildings West regional vice-president Stephan Lacombe added: "Securing the Belleville Terminal Redevelopment Project marks a significant milestone in our continuous efforts to enhance infrastructure in the region. This project exemplifies our dedication to delivering high-quality construction solutions that positively impact our communities."

Pomerleau will collaborate with the province, indigenous tribes, and other key stakeholders to refine the terminal's design and ensure the delivery of this vital infrastructure.

A Canadian company with a history spanning nearly six decades, Pomerleau boasts revenues of approximately $6bn and a workforce of over 5,000 across more than 200 sites nationwide.

The company engages in the construction of buildings, civil engineering works, and major infrastructure projects.

In July 2024, the Government of British Columbia (BC) identified Cross Fraser Partnership as the preferred proponent for a tunnel project.

The partnership includes Bouygues Construction Canada, Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas Canada, Pomerleau BC, and Arcadis Canada.
