The General Secretariat of the Tender Board in Oman has recently announced the initiation of the tender process for phase three and phase four of the domestic Sinaw-Mahout-Duqm road upgrade project.

The project, spanning a combined distance of approximately 132km, is part of Oman's Ministry of Transport, Communications, and Information Technology's (MTCIT) efforts to improve the country's road network.

Phase three, covering a total of roughly 83km, will extend from Al Jouba Roundabout in the Wilayat of Mahout to the Wilayat of Duqm.

This phase includes a single carriageway with two lanes, each 3.75m wide. Additionally, this road will have asphalt shoulders of 2.5m on each side and gravel shoulders of 2m.

The phase also features the design and construction of a new roundabout for Khlouf village, enhancing traffic connectivity for local residents and adjacent areas.

The fourth phase, approximately 49km long, will run from near Sarab to the Special Economic Zone at Duqm's (SEZAD's) boundaries near Nafun.

Built to the same specifications as earlier phases, this section will maintain traffic on existing roads to reduce detours and incorporate road safety features. This includes suitable design speeds, improved curve geometry, and lighting at key locations.

These developments are expected to bolster mobility and stimulate economic, commercial, and tourism activities in the North Al Sharqiyah and Al Wusta Governorates.

The project aligns with the broader vision of connecting the region to SEZAD.

Earlier this year, the South Al Sharqiyah Governorate announced contracts valued at OR26.3m ($68.1m) for various municipal sector projects.
