Finnish steel structure provider Nordec has secured a contract for the Lastaustie 7 project in Jyväskylä, Finland.

The contract was awarded by construction company Peab.

The project scope includes the design and construction of steel structures and load-bearing sheets for a project building.

Nordec will deliver both the structural framework and associated sheet elements. Installation work is scheduled between weeks 15 and 26 in 2025.

In a press statement, Nordec said: “Nordec is excited to embark on this journey, contributing to the advancement of Jyväskylä’s industrial landscape. We look forward to sharing more updates as we move forward with this transformative project.”

Jykia is the property investor behind the project and is renowned for focusing on long-term sustainability in various projects.

The company has established its presence in Jyväskylä and aims to support regional economic growth. The Lastaustie 7 initiative aligns with its long-term investment strategy.

Last month, Nordec was awarded a contract by Nordic construction company NCC to design and build the frame and envelope structures for a new train depot in Hagalund, Stockholm, Sweden.

The Jernhusen-developed depot aims to modernise Sweden’s rail infrastructure and enhance the region’s public transport network.

Nordec’s responsibilities in the project include building the steel frame, prefabricated concrete slabs, walls, stairs, sandwich panel walls, and roof sheeting. NCC will handle the construction of a train hall with vehicle lifts.
