Komatsu North America has reached an agreement to procure assets from SRC of Lexington, a company based in Lexington, Kentucky, US.
The transaction, subject to standard closing conditions, is expected to be completed by the end of February 2026.
SRC of Lexington provides rebuilt components and parts used in construction and mining machinery.
The deal, if materialised, will expand Komatsu's remanufacturing operations in North America. It will also increase its capacity to serve customers as demand for remanufactured solutions increases.
Komatsu intends to increase its investment in a dedicated remanufacturing facility in the US, reinforcing its position in North America, which is among the largest markets globally for construction and mining machinery.
Since 2010, the installed base of quarry and mining equipment in North America has expanded, leading to increased demand for remanufactured parts.
Over this period, Komatsu’s remanufacturing business has grown substantially, with transaction volumes rising by roughly four times between the 2010 and 2024 financial years.
Komatsu North America parts and infrastructure vice president Danny Murtagh said: “North America is one of Komatsu’s most important markets for both construction and mining equipment.
"This acquisition allows us to deepen our reman capabilities closer to customers, improve responsiveness, and support dealers and end users with high-quality, cost-effective solutions throughout the equipment lifecycle.”
Komatsu recovers used parts from construction and mining equipment and restores them at its dedicated facilities, returning them to the market with the same standards as new components.
This approach, which the company says can reduce both costs and lead times while supporting resource reuse, forms part of its global remanufacturing strategy.
Komatsu launched this strategy with a facility in Chile in 2005 to support electric dump trucks manufactured in the US, then expanded to Indonesia in 2007 for equipment made in Japan.
As of 2025, the company’s remanufacturing network encompasses 45 sites across 16 countries.
