GRAHAM, a privately owned construction company, has secured a contract from the UK Department for Education for the construction of the new Oasis Academy in Bristol, UK.
The secondary school will be located in Temple Quarter. The area is being redeveloped through a partnership between Bristol City Council, Homes England, the West of England Combined Authority, and Network Rail.
With a total gross internal floor area of 12,182m², Oasis Academy Temple Quarter is designed to accommodate 1,600 students.
Construction is scheduled to begin this month, with the school expected to open by September 2027.
The project will feature a modern school building. It will also involve the renovation of an existing listed building, known as the boiler shop, which will be transformed into a sports hall.
GRAHAM regional director Peter Reavey said: “The start on site for the project marks several years of hard work by the entire project team. We look forward to providing the new learning facility for Oasis Community Learning that generations of school children in the Bristol area will get the benefit from.”
This initiative is part of a broader master plan that includes planning for residential, commercial, research and enterprise, and student accommodation developments on adjacent plots.
The design of the new school aims to create an environment conducive to learning while supporting student well-being and fostering community engagement.
According to GRAHAM, the completion of this project is expected to address the increasing demand for school places in Bristol.

“While we’ve remained committed to providing a safe and supportive learning environment at our temporary Spring Street site, our new property on Silverthorne Lane will be much more than a building. It will be a lasting home for learning, growth, and community pride.”
In July this year, GRAHAM was appointed by Clarion Housing Group’s development arm, Latimer, as the primary contractor for the £110m ($148.4m) redevelopment of the former Boddingtons Brewery site in the UK.
