UK-based real estate developer Tritax Symmetry has appointed Buckingham Group to deliver a new 500,000ft² cross-dock logistics facility at Symmetry Park in Kettering, England.

The Kettering 500 project will be developed with the aim of achieving net-zero carbon during construction, as well as a minimum BREEAM Excellent and EPC A rating.

On-site work will begin this month, with an expected completion date of April next year.

This is the second facility to be built at Symmetry Park in the town. Last February, a 312,875ft² building was finished and pre-leased for 15 years.

Tritax Symmetry's development director and Northampton office head Jonathan Wallis said: “Our decision to speculatively develop Kettering 500 is a direct response to extensive research into the occupational market, which highlighted a supply vs demand imbalance in the 500,000ft² size bracket.

“Kettering 500 will showcase a best-in-class institutional specification, together with Tritax Symmetry’s own high design and sustainability standards.”

Located on an area comprising 136 acres, Symmetry Park has already received preliminary planning permission for 2,310,000ft² of logistics floor space.

London-based Stephen George+Partners will be the project’s architect, with Trinity Property Consultants serving as the project manager.

The team also includes Framptons Town Planning, Feasibility, WSP, EDP and Hannan Associates.

The joint letting partners for the project are Cushman & Wakefield and BNP Paribas Real Estate.
