BAM has been chosen as the construction partner to deliver an estimated 1,000 homes in the eastern Netherlands.

This initiative is part of the Bouwstroom Oost project, a joint effort among five housing corporations aimed at delivering affordable and sustainable housing.

The homes will be developed using BAM's concept home strategy, which utilises standardised designs based on reference models to streamline the construction process.

This approach is stated to not only reduce costs but also enhance the sustainability of the homes. The stacked housing concept employed by BAM is said to allow for the construction of more homes in a limited space without compromising on comfort and quality.

The decision to partner with BAM was made after a tender that emphasised sustainability criteria aligned with the 'New Normal' standard.

This criteria focused on environmental performance, circularity of materials, and the healthiness and detachability of construction materials. Factors such as ease of maintenance and living quality were also considered.

BAM says its methods are sustainable, scalable, and futureproof, contributing significantly to mitigating the housing shortage in the region.

The first of these homes is expected to be completed by the end of 2025, with an overall goal of constructing 2,500 homes through the Bouwstroom Oost initiative.

This March, BAM Infra Nederland, a division of BAM Group, began the first phase of the Schiphol Plaza bus station renewal at Schiphol Airport in the Netherlands.

The project, carried out for Project Multimodal Hub Schiphol, will transform the existing bus stops into a sheltered platform with 20 stops.

The same month, British Land, a UK property company, announced the redevelopment of Broadgate Tower within the Broadgate campus in London, with BAM overseeing the construction process.
