Rochdale Borough Council has appointed Willmott Dixon as contractor for a £60m regeneration project in Greater Manchester, the UK.

The project, named Upperbanks, will include delivery of 242 new apartments and a Hampton by Hilton hotel in Rochdale town centre.

It is being constructed next to the new Rochdale Riverside retail and leisure development that opened last year.

The regeneration project is a Rochdale Borough Council scheme which is being delivered by Rochdale Development Agency.

The scheme has already secured more than £20m of external funding, attracting more than £3m from the Greater Manchester’s Combined Authority’s Brownfield Development Fund and over £17m from the government’s Future High Streets Fund.

Work on Upperbanks is scheduled to commence start next month and is expected to be completed in early 2024.
