UK property developer Weston Homes and landowner Columbia Threadneedle have secured resolution-to-grant planning approval from Norwich City Council for redeveloping Anglia Square into a £300m mixed-use urban scheme.
Planning permission will be issued for the proposal following completion of the ‘Section 106’ legal agreement between the applicants and the city council.
With over 1.2 million square feet, the regeneration scheme will offer homes, retail spaces, leisure amenities, and public spaces.
Weston Homes chairman and CEO Bob Weston said: “Anglia Square is a major £300m urban renewal project which will position Norwich for the future and provide a new mixed use destination for the city.”
He added further: “The regenerated site will further enhance the local community and compliment the existing city centre.”
Claimed to be one of the biggest urban renewal projects outside Greater London, it will feature a series of buildings designed around two ‘Covent Garden style’ landscaped plazas that are connected by public spaces and planted areas.
