VINCI Construction UK has secured a contract for the construction of a €91m student accommodation in Bristol, the UK.

The University of the West of England in Bristol has awarded the contract to build its Student Accommodation Project 3 (SAP3).

The new 26,000m2 development is expected to become one of the UK’s largest Passivhaus certified developments.

It will include 900 bed spaces in a mix of studios and four-, six- and eight-bed clusters.

The company stated that the new development will run with reduced energy consumption compared with traditional new builds.

Construction work on SAP3 is scheduled to commence in next month and will be delivered ahead of the beginning of 2023/2024 academic year.

In a separate development, VINCI Construction’s subsidiary Chantiers Modernes Construction was awarded a contract worth more than €80m to construct an operation and maintenance centre in Palaiseau, Paris, France.

Société du Grand Paris has awarded the contract to build the new centre for Line 18 of the Grand Paris Express.

The scope of work under the contract involves earthworks, the envelope, roadworks, the structure, utility networks, technical installations, finishing work and industrial equipment.

The new 64,000m² centre will include an infrastructure maintenance base; a maintenance base and depot for the automatic metro line’s trains.

It will also feature a central control room, electrical utility rooms, security post, and the Tour en Fosse building.

The new operation and maintenance centre will support the future Line 18, which will link the Paris-Saclay research and development hub to Orly Airport and the city of Versailles.
