VINCI Concessions has been awarded a public-private partnership (PPP) contract by German highways agency Deges for the new B247 federal road in Germany.

The 30-year PPP for the new road represents approximately €500m investment, including around €350m for the construction phase, and for the design, financing, construction, maintenance, and operation of the 22km-long federal road.

The design and construction also include 6km of additional crossing sections.

This new route connects Muehlhausen and Bad Langensalza in Thuringia, Germany.

Construction of the project will carried out by Eurovia Deutschland and VINCI Construction Terrassement, subsidiaries of Vinci Construction, and will last around four years.

The operations and maintenance of the new road will be performed by Vinci Concessions’ subsidiary Vinci Highways.

The new route on the B247 highway will help to improve mobility in North-East Thuringia and provide direct connection and ease access to the region’s highway system.

It will also increase road safety and help to relieve traffic from the existing road that crosses the neighbouring cities.

Recently, a consortium led by Vinci Construction Grands Projets was awarded a contract worth €1.43bn to excavate 46km of tunnels for the Lyon–Turin railway line.

The consortium includes Vinci Construction’s subsidiaries, Dodin Campenon Bernard and Vinci Construction France, and Webuild.

Under the contract, the companies are responsible for the construction of a 23km section of twin-tube tunnel between Saint-Martin-la-Porte and Modane, in Savoie, France.

The project also includes digging 25km of tunnel using three tunnel boring machines and 21km of tunnel using conventional methods.
