Vantage Data Centers, a provider of hyperscale data centre campuses, has broken ground on two campuses in Berlin, and Warsaw.

The development of these sites form a part of the firm’s $2bn expansion in Europe and will offer hyperscalers, cloud providers and large enterprises with hyperscale data centre campuses.

This is the second facility in Germany and the first in Poland.

Situated in Brandenburg Park, this 250,000ft2 campus (BER1) will feature two 16MW data centres providing a total 32MW of IT load once completely developed. The first phase is slated for completion in early 2022 and will include 8MW of IT capacity.

Under the firm’s environmental sustainability programme, Vantage will provide customers renewable energy options at the campus to cut down carbon emissions.

Besides making use of an efficient cooling system with outside air economisation, BER1 will have the ability to connect into district heating schemes to reuse waste heat.

This 390,000ft2 Warsaw campus (WAW1) will consist of two data centres.

This first facility will feature 16MW of capacity, while the second facility will include 32MW of capacity, having a total 48MW of IT load once completely developed.

The first phase is slated for delivery in early 2022, and will include 8MW of IT capacity.

This facility will also provider customers renewable energy options and will feature efficient cooling with outside air economisation and EV charging stations, along with amenities such as meeting space options, customisable workspaces, and secure storage.

Vantage Data Centers president of Europe Antoine Boniface said: “The groundbreakings of Berlin and Warsaw are yet another testament to Vantage’s rapid global growth and industry-leading time-to-market strategy.

“In the past six months alone, Vantage’s significant progress of our greenfield developments in Berlin, Warsaw, Zurich and Frankfurt has proven that we are prepared to deploy premier hyperscale facilities at industry-leading speed in order to best serve the needs of our customers.”

Vantage entered into Europe in February 2020. It made significant investments including the acquisitions of Etix Everywhere and Next Generation Data.

Besides Berlin and Warsaw, Vantage has operational campuses in Frankfurt and Cardiff and will open a campus in Zurich later this year.
