Scottish building and construction company The JR Group has commenced work on a new residential scheme at Glasgow Road, Stirling, Scotland.

This project, which is the company’s first with Stirling Council, will feature one- and two-bedroom cottage flats that will replace the existing flatted building on the corner of Glasgow Road and Barnsdale Road in Stirling’s St Ninians area.

The JR Group managing director Gary McGregor said: “We are delivering energy-efficient, attractive homes which are much-needed within the local area and have been designed to sit nicely within the locale.

“We are using our own specialist divisions within our group to deliver this project including Specialist Services, Scaffold, Sprinklers Scotland Ltd and our own timber kit business DC Timber, to ensure the project runs smoothly, and we look forward to seeing the project progress.”

In line with the local architecture surrounding the site, the development will be designed to give a contemporary feel while utilising traditional materials.

The development will feature a combination of colours and smooth-facing brick/masonry and soothing render facades along with weatherboard cladding feature panels.

The flats will be equipped with sustainable features including a zero-gas air exhaust system, triple-glazed windows, and photovoltaic panels with battery storage. These sustainable elements will enable the project to achieve the silver level for space heating.

The project also aims to obtain a platinum certification for carbon emission reduction.

Each flat will have garden space, a parking area, and their own door access.

Stirling Council Community Wellbeing and Housing Committee convener and councillor Gerry McGarvey said: “Increasing the supply of council homes is one of our key priorities, so I’m delighted to see work getting underway on this project that will deliver high-quality, energy-efficient homes in an area of Stirling where there is high demand for social housing.”
