Ault Alliance’s wholly owned subsidiary Sentinum has begun construction on its new data centre in Montana, US.

Earlier this year, Sentinum’s subsidiary BNI Montana secured land leases and power agreements for the development of functional data centres at the site, mainly to carry out Bitcoin mining activities.

When the project is complete, it will have a projected initial power capacity of up to 20MW. This capacity will be sufficient to run approximately 6,500 S19j Pro Antminers.

Sentinum expects that the site could grow significantly and noted that an electrical load feasibility study will help determine the extent of its potential expansion.

The project will need more financial resources to expand its capacity.

The company expects the data centres to be operational by the end of this year.

Ault executive chair Milton ‘Todd’ Ault Jr said: “We are thrilled to break ground on our Montana facility. This reinforces our commitment to expand and diversify our data centre colocation and hosting services.

“Once completed, we anticipate moving our Bitcoin miners that are currently at third-party hosting facilities to Montana, where we can operate them more efficiently and with greater profitability.

“In parallel with the data centre buildout, we are currently working with the local utility on details and timing of the load study.”

By utilising its wholly and majority-owned subsidiaries and strategic investments, Ault operates data centres where it mines Bitcoin.

It also provides colocation and hosting services for developing AI ecosystems and various industries.
