Saint-Gobain, via its building products subsidiary CertainTeed, has announced plans to invest $118.8m over the next five years to expand its CertainTeed roofing shingle manufacturing facility in Oxford, North Carolina.

This expansion in Oxford comes a few months after Saint-Gobain announced its global Grow and Impact strategy, which involves expansion in important, fast-growing markets.

This investment will feature new equipment and automation to boost employee safety and offer technology and processes to align with the company’s global aim of carbon neutrality by 2050.

The project is backed by $650,000 in reimbursement grants from North Carolina state. This grant includes funds from the One North Carolina Fund and a Rural Division Building Reuse Grant.

The CertainTeed Oxford facility commenced operations in 1978.

This roofing shingle manufacturing site sits on a 113-acre land in Granville County.

The project will create an extra 225,000ft2 of manufacturing space and minimum of 37 new full-time manufacturing roles.
