Machinery manufacturing company Raimondi Middle East has erected six flat-top tower cranes at Arada’s Aljada large-scale master community in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates.

The site features four MRT159 models and two T187s – the latter marking the first installation of Raimondi’s T Series cranes on a project within the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) region.

The deployment, which took place in the last quarter of 2025, forms part of Raimondi Middle East’s continuing expansion, bringing its regional fleet to more than 200 cranes.

Raimondi Middle East general manager Wael Hasan said: “Raimondi is a vital part of the construction works for Arada’s flagship megacity. Our longstanding partnership with the developer has been built on reliability, responsiveness, and consistent project delivery.”

The multibillion dollar Aljada project, developed by Arada, began in 2017 and covers about 2.2km² near University City.

The project plan outlines around 25,000 residential units, together with educational facilities, healthcare centres, green spaces, office areas, and leisure features.

Madar, designed by Zaha Hadid Architects, and the cultural venue Il Teatro by Tadao Ando are included as major parts of the development.

The new equipment supports construction of office buildings, commercial areas, and mixed-use business facilities within the emerging central business district.

The location sits adjacent to another active site where multiple Raimondi flat-tops are currently in operation, contributing to the company’s wider presence across the development.

“Aljada is a fast-track project, and as with current and previous phases, seamless coordination during delivery, assembly, and installation was essential to ensure alignment with project schedule. This is why models with ease of installation and great versatility were chosen,” added Hasan.

Of the six cranes now onsite, five will increase in height during later stages as construction progresses, eventually reaching up to 85m.

Currently, the four MRT159s operate freestanding at heights reaching 51m and have been assembled with jib lengths between 50m and 65m.

Each MRT159 can carry up to eight tonnes (t) and is equipped with a 30kW hoist winch that lifts loads at speeds of up to 136m per minute.

The two T187 flat-top cranes arrived as part of Raimondi’s fleet expansion strategy and were delivered brand new for this project.

Both machines feature Lumina crane cabins, with respective jib lengths of 60m and 65m and tower heights at 63m and 57m.

The systems’ tip load capacities stand at 2.59t and 2.09t, with maximum lifting speeds of up to 115m/min using a 30kW winch and a drum capacity of 510m.

“Raimondi’s Middle East rental fleet now includes several T187 flat-tops. The T187 has excellent specifications in terms of lifting capabilities, speed, and configurations,” said Hasan.

He added that the components designed for optimal weight have simplified installation procedures on site. The cranes’ maximum lifting capacity reaches 10t.

According to Raimondi Middle East operations head Muath Bani-Issa, initial feedback regarding the performance of the T187 has indicated no operational issues since installation.

He added: “Beyond its mechanical strength, the crane’s integrated ConCore system allows for ease of commissioning, while enabling us to remotely monitor performance and operations in real time.”

The six cranes will remain onsite for approximately 18 months as work continues on the Central Business District development.

In July 2023, Raimondi Middle East installed eight flat-top tower cranes at the Aljada development.
