UK-based construction firm Kier Group has been selected as the sole contractor for delivering up to £1.5bn of construction and maintenance work for Scape Group.

Scape, a local authority procurement entity, has formed the Scape National Minor Works framework, which will be applied throughout the UK.

Starting in early September, the framework will be valid for four years and include schemes valued between £50,000 and £4m.

The first minor works framework awarded to Kier had the upper project value of £2m, and has been increased to £4m in the latest projection.

"Our aim with the new Minor Works framework is to offer more flexibility that will allow the public sector to work more efficiently."

The framework is in compliance with the Official Journal of the European Union (OJEU) and covers schemes such as new constructions, refurbishments and maintenance.

It will be applicable for any public sector organisations, including schools, health centres, police and fire stations, to town halls, leisure centres and community buildings.
