Global contractor Multiplex has been chosen to construct an A$180m ($136.6m) commercial tower for developer Shayher Group’s Brisbane Quarter project in Australia.

The 42-storey building at 300 George Street is the second of three towers planned under the project, which includes the five-star luxury lifestyle hotel W Brisbane and an 82-storey residential tower.

The hotel building is also being constructed by Multiplex.

"Estimated to provide a space of 48,342m², the commercial tower will aim for a five-star Green Star rating."

Multiplex Queensland regional managing director Graham Cottam said: “Brisbane Quarter is an outstanding integrated development already having a significant impact on the Brisbane skyline."

Construction on the tower is expected to commence next month and should be completed by mid-2019.
