US-based CBL & Associates Properties and Horizon Group Properties have announced the start of construction on phase two of The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta.

Scheduled to open before this year’s holiday season, the 33,000ft² expansion is expected to attract several retailers to the centre, including GAP Outlet and Banana Republic.

The outlet shopping centre is located at the intersection of Interstate 575 and Ridgewalk Parkway, which opened on 18 July 2013. Its second phase will be located at the north side of the centre.

"The expansion of The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, less than two years after its opening, speaks volumes about the strength of the market."

CBL & Associates Properties development and administration executive vice-president Michael Lebovitz said: "The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta is enjoying great success in the market as sales and traffic continue to grow.

"Through this expansion, we are adding exciting new retailers to what is already an excellent collection of stores."

Situated at exit nine on I-575 and featuring 93 various famous brand stores, The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta is said to be the closest outlet centre to the Atlanta metro area.

The stores include Nike, Coach, Michael Kors, Saks Fifth Avenue OFF 5TH, Carter’s, Kate Spade, Vineyard Vines and Johnny Rockets.

Horizon Group Properties CEO Gary Skoien said: "The expansion of The Outlet Shoppes at Atlanta, less than two years after its opening, speaks volumes about the strength of the market and success of the outlet concept in Atlanta."

The joint venture between CBL & Associates Properties and Horizon Group Properties is being co-developed by Horizon and CBL. Horizon will be responsible for leasing and managing the centre.
