
Kier has been selected by Aneurin Bevan University Health Board to build a new £27.5m health and wellbeing centre in Ringland, Newport, UK.
This centre will offer first-class facilities to accommodate two current GP practices independently.
It will offer various community services for patients at one place, such as e general medical services, community dentistry, community services, social care and third-sector partners.
Services at the current community hub will be connected to the new building to strengthen the services offered to support wellbeing, decrease loneliness and promote independent living,.
Kier is also responsible for building a new car park, and a mobile health centre and new tarmac pitch that will replace the old one
Work has begun on site and is anticipated to finish in January 2025.

By GlobalDataKier Construction Western & Wales regional director Jason Taylor said: “This is a significant project for the community in Newport and our Wales business, and we are pleased to be getting started on site.
“This new Health and Wellbeing Centre will link directly to the community hub and will allow for an effective integration with wider community services and create a focus for health and wellbeing within the community.”
Aneurin Bevan Health University Health Board chief executive Nicola Prygodzicz said: “We are delighted that the Welsh Government has approved this new Health and Wellbeing Centre, which is a perfect example of our ambitions for the transformation of health care delivery across the health board area.
“Our ongoing Clinical Futures programme commits us to moving care closer to people’s homes and this new centre in the Newport East area will enable patients to access a wide range of health and social care services under one roof in the heart of their community.”
The project was procured via the Building for Wales Framework.
Currently, Kier is working at Singleton Hospital in Swansea, completing recladding works at Tredegar building, which is a similar health and wellbeing centre.
Kier also last year handed over the £25m HMT Sancta Maria hospital.
