Integrated Health Projects (IHP) has secured a contract worth about €131m to construct a new cancer research centre at The Christie NHS Foundation Trust in Manchester, the UK.

IHP is a joint venture between VINCI Construction UK and construction firm Sir Robert McAlpine.

The Christie NHS Foundation Trust, The University of Manchester and Cancer Research UK are providing funding for the new nine-storey facility.

IHP has already commenced early construction works of the new 27,000m2 BREEAM Very Good-certified building in August last year.

VINCI Construction stated: “They were carried out by IHP without any interruption to ongoing medical activity in other buildings, most particularly concerning the vibration-sensitive medical imaging centre.”

Slated to be completed in December 2022, the new research centre will be home for the UK’s largest team of doctors, scientists and healthcare staff.

Established in 2003, IHP has completed over 170 projects worth about €1.75bn that include construction of psychiatric, outpatient, intensive care and social care facilities.

Recently, the company won a contract to construct a new £50m Children and Young Persons (CYP) Mental Healthcare facility for the South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) in the UK.

The new eight-storey facility will be named as the Pears Maudsley Centre for Children and Young People’s Mental Health.

It will collaborate with clinical care and research experts from King’s College London’s Institute of Psychiatry, Psychology and Neuroscience (IoPPN) and South London and Maudsley NHS Foundation Trust (SLaM) to identify treatments for children, young people, and their families.
