Chesterfield Borough Council has signed a funding agreement with developer Chesterfield Waterside Limited for the construction of a seven-storey office building in England, UK.

The funding agreement will facilitate the start construction on the office project in October 2020.

The office scheme will be located in the Basin Square neighbourhood of the £340m Chesterfield Waterside scheme, a mixed-use regeneration project being delivered by Chesterfield Waterside Limited.

The Grade A office project, known as No.1 Waterside Place, has already secured planning permission last year. It will cover an area of approximately 35,000ft².

Bolsterstone Group, a property development and investment company, has been selected to supervise the project, which is scheduled to be completed in August 2021.

Chesterfield Borough Council leader Tricia Gilby said: “We’re delighted to be bringing forward this state-of-the-art office building with Chesterfield Waterside Ltd., which will deliver supply chain opportunities for local companies during the construction phase and new jobs for local people with the companies that will be taking space at No.1 Waterside Place.

“These are uncertain times, but we must not standstill. We must continue to invest in this and other growth projects if we are to meet the council’s objectives of making Chesterfield a thriving borough and improve the quality of people’s lives.

“No.1 Waterside Place is just the start of what we believe will be a very special journey for the people of this great town and borough.”

Designed by Bond Bryan Architects, the project will also feature ground-floor retail space.

It will also include two passenger lifts, air conditioning, raised access flooring, LED lighting, a high-quality entrance foyer, showers and cycle parking facilities onsite.

Britcon (UK) has been appointed as the main contractor for the office building. Under the agreement with Chesterfield Borough Council, the contractor will use local labour to deliver the project.

BHP Chartered Accountants, a Sunday Times Top 100 Employer, will occupy an entire floor within the building. Chesterfield Waterside is already in talks with several potential occupiers.
