A consortium comprising Expomobilia, JKMM Architects, Factor Nova, Beyond Limits and FiveCurrents has won a tender to build the Finland Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.
Named Snow Cape, the pavilion will be planned and built by the consortium on behalf of Business Finland.
Development of Snow Cape will be based on the themes of nature, innovation and sustainability.
Featuring both Finnish and Arabic cultures, the pavilion will be similar to a white tent made of snow and draw inspiration from Finland’s landscape during winter.
Its main entrance will also be designed to give an impression of an Arabic tent.
Finnish components and materials have been used to create the building, which can serve as a design object associated with Finnish history.

By GlobalDataExpomobilia said in a statement: “From outside, the shape is simple but refined. In the middle of the pavilion, a dynamic wooden space ‘Gorge’ is carved into the building, offering Expo visitors a pleasantly cool and shady retreat.
“The ‘Gorge’ also relates to the unique Finnish history of innovation, which often requires thinking ‘out of the box’, an element of surprise.
“In the pavilion, the surprise is the wooden heart and exhibitions inside. In addition, the Finland pavilion is a place representing Finland’s closeness to nature and personal exchange, in accordance with the motto of the EXPO 2020 Dubai: ‘Connecting Minds, Creating the Future’.”
JKMM Architects, FiveCurrents and Factor Nova have already developed the design concept of the pavilion building, while Expomobilia is responsible for the overall planning and managing the project during implementation.
Factor Nova, Beyond Limits and FiveCurrents will provide advisory support across all phases of the project, starting from design to delivery.
