Real estate development firm Ethos Development has commenced construction of a multi-family housing development in SE Portland, Oregon, the US.

The 128,000ft2 development, named brookLAND, will be a five-story building which will comprise 166 apartments and a tea shop in the common space of the building.

The apartments will be available in a wide variety of unit types that include five three-bedroom units and two studios, which will be affordable to residents earning 60% of area median income.

It will also include a fitness studio, a building lounge, a tea house, a sauna, workspace, as well as a roof deck.

Ethos Development founding principal Paul Del Vecchio said: “We are excited to contribute to the next chapter for the Brooklyn neighborhood with a design forward building, particularly at a time when housing is so badly needed.”

The project is designed by architecture studio Hacker Architects and general contractor R&H Construction has been appointed to support the pre-construction work and is also constructing the new building.

In April this year, Ethos Development broke ground on the Analog Tacoma, a multi-family housing development project, in Tacoma, Washington, the US.

The project is claimed to be one of the first projects in the city to be funded with a project-specific Opportunity Zone fund.

The 6,500ft2 development will feature 115 apartments in an eight-story mid-rise podium building. The units are designed to provide market rate affordability by way of efficient floorplans and sub-market gross rents.
