Saudi group Dar Al-Handasah Consultants has secured a design contract from the Jeddah Central Development Company (JCDC), which is a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Saudi sovereign wealth fund, Public Investment Fund (PIF), for the first phase of $20bn (SAR75bn) Central Jeddah project.

Dar Al Handasah will provide design and technical consultation for the Jeddah Central Project, in turn paving way for commencement of construction work.

It will also provide designs for the masterplan including for all four main architectural landmarks, besides the development of assets on both the horizontal and vertical levels, reported TradeArabia.

Local and international experts from Jeddah will lead the design process of the masterplan.

Jeddah Central Development Company CEO Ahmed bin Abdul Aziz Al Sulaim was quoted by Trade Arabia as saying that the first phase of the project is anticipated to include three main architectural landmarks.

These include an Opera House, Stadium, and Oceanarium and Coral Farms.

Following completion, the project will receive Jeddah’s residents, along with visitors.

Implemented in a 5.7-million-sq-m strategic area in central Jeddah, the project lies on a waterfront location with a 9.5-km shoreline.
