Construction has begun of the Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut highway, an important infrastructure project in Karabakh and Eastern Zangazur economic regions of Azerbaijan, reported Azernews.

Starting from the Hajigabul-Minjivan-Zangazur corridor, the 39.7km-long Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut highway runs through Shukurbayli village of Jabrayil region to Hadrut settlement of Khojavend region.

The 14m wide highway is being built in line with the first technical category, with four lanes under Karabakh’s development plan.

The construction of a 21.5m wide roadbed of the 25.7 km section is in line with the first technical category.

The roadbase construction, and laying of asphalt-concrete pavement are being undertaken in the areas where the roadbed is ready.

With a view to cut down the negative effect of the road construction on the environment, 85% of the construction work on 37 round pipes, 95% on nine rectangular water crossings, 93% on seven underpasses and 80% on reserve crossings, have been finished, reported the news outlet.

Meanwhile, development of six road bridges on the 2nd, 19th, 20th, 27th, 31st, and 39th km of the Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut highway is proceeding.

The construction of bridges at 2.19km and 39 km is almost complete.

The Azerbaijan State Agency of Automobile Roads is directly supervising the construction work as per the requirements of the Construction Norms and Rules.

The road’s construction is set to be completed in next year.

The Shukurbayli-Jabrayil-Hadrut highway passes via the Khojavend, Fuzuli, and Jabrayil districts.

The highway runs through around 20 settlements in the region, including Hadrut settlement and Jabrayil city.
