Conamar has received a contract for a new £11m arts and rehearsal building for Garsington Opera, at Wormsley, in rural Buckinghamshire, the UK.

The building is currently undergoing the next stage of design development and procurement of sub-contractors.

Works on the project will commence on site in June.

The Arts and Performance venue will be set within the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and replace disused agricultural buildings.

The new buildings will feature materials typical of the Chilterns vernacular such as brick and flint walls, dark stained weatherboarding and plain clay roof tiles. They will also have green roof besides performance spaces, rehearsal rooms, recording studios, wardrobe workshops and catering areas that blend into the environment.

Garsington Opera executive director Nicola Creed said, “We are very excited to be launching this project, which gives us the opportunity to improve the quality and efficiency of our opera productions, broaden our provision to the local community, and deepen the impact for all participants as well as assisting with our aim to become more sustainable.’
