Bobcat Company, an equipment and work site solutions provider and member of the Doosan Group, has celebrated the commencement of construction of a new $300m manufacturing facility in Mexico.

A ground-breaking event was held, which saw in attendance Bobcat representatives, local elected officials, and business leaders from the area.

Last year, the company first announced its plans to launch this project.

The 700,000ft² plant, located in the Salinas Victoria municipality, near Monterrey in the state of Nuevo Leon, is anticipated to be operational by 2026.

Doosan Bobcat CEO and vice-chair Scott Park said: “As a global company with manufacturing facilities, offices, dealerships and customers across the globe, we have seen tremendous growth and increased demand for our products.

“We are excited to continue growing our footprint to meet demand for Bobcat solutions worldwide.”

The plant will focus on producing select models of compact track and skid-steer loaders, joining Bobcat’s existing production in the US and the Czech Republic.

These facilities will continue their operations after the new Mexican factory becomes operational.

Doosan Bobcat North America president Mike Ballweber said: “We look forward to growing our manufacturing footprint in the Salinas Victoria community for its excellent industrial sector, skilled workforce and strong business environment.

“Our investment here demonstrates our confidence in this manufacturing environment and thriving local economy.”

The facility aims to achieve Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver certification and will incorporate technology to ensure quality, precision, and energy efficiency.

In addition, it is expected to generate between 600 and 800 jobs.

The facility’s design and construction team comprises Shultz + Associates Architects and Mexico’s GP Construcción, a division of Grupo GP, as the construction manager.

GP Construcción specialises in industrial parks and facilities throughout the country.
