BAM Construction has been selected as a design and build contractor for a project to convert Harrogate Convention Centre in North Yorkshire, England into an NHS Nightingale hospital to treat the coronavirus patients.
Being developed as part of the government’s response to tackling the COVID-19 pandemic, the new 500-bed facility will accommodate the level three critical care beds for the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust.

Under the contract, BAM will convert eight halls to create partitions, flooring, and the specialist mechanical and electrical zones.
BAM, which had secured the contract under the Government’s ProCure 22 framework, will receive assistance from BAM Design, which has been selected to deliver structural engineering.
For the project, Building Design Partnership (BDP) is serving as a lead architect while Silcock Leedham will provide services engineering.

Upon completion, BAM’s facilities management business will provide support to help maintain the facility, which is planned to be completed shortly.
