AVRP Skyport has started renovation work on BioMed Realty’s 81,000ft² life science asset located at 11,010 Torreyana in La Jolla, California, US.
The property is situated in the Torrey Pines State Reserve and was originally developed in the early 1980s. It is currently being renovated by BioMed Realty into a modern life science headquarters.
As part of the project, numerous exterior upgrades will be carried out, in addition to improving interior and site amenities.
The renovation will also include an expanded entry lobby and feature stair, as well as infrastructure improvements.
BioMed Realty Development vice-president Federico Mina said: “The use of virtual reality as a design tool was key to our decision to partner with AVRP Skyport. Our use of their technology so early in the development of the design was crucial to our understanding of the concept and influence and approval of the solution.”
Plans are currently underway for outdoor barbeque and gaming areas, food truck support, a new architecture façade treatment, an expanded two-storey entry lobby, conference centre, and gym.
