UAE-based Majid Al Futtaim has awarded a contract to global infrastructure firm AECOM to provide consultancy services for Mall of Saudi project in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Under the four-year contract, AECOM will be responsible for providing lead consultancy services for pre-contract and post contract construction supervision for Mall of Saudi.

Claimed to be Majid Al Futtaim’s largest integrated retail and lifestyle asset in Saudi Arabia, the mall is expected to include more than 600 stores across 300,000m2 gross leasable area.

Mall of Saudi will also include the largest ski slope and snow park in the Middle East, luxury hotels and branded residences covering nearly 2,000 keys and on 214,000m2 of area.

It will also include a Carrefour hypermarket, 31 VOX Cinema screens, the world’s largest IMAX, as well as a Magic Planet. So far, about half of the gross leasable area has been reserved by retailers.

Construction work on the project is scheduled to commence in the fourth quarter of this year.

The development is expected to create around 70,000 direct and indirect jobs during the construction phase, and about 16,000 direct jobs during the operations.

Mall of Saudi is said to be a major part of the $4.26bn (SAR16bn) Riyadh North mixed-use development, which comprises nine hotels, 600 retail stores and branded residences with 2,000 keys as well as the largest ski slope and snow park in the Middle East.
