Developer Terrace Hill has confirmed that Scotland-based contracting company Barr Construction is the main contractor for its £30m cinema and leisure development in Darlington, UK.
Set to be built on the site of the town’s 0.75ha former bus station, the new Feethams Leisure complex is expected to create an additional 13,000m² of leisure, retail and restaurant space in the town centre.
The complex will have a nine-screen Vue cinema and an 80-bed Premier Inn hotel, and will be supported by 80 car parking spaces.
Said to be on-site since September 2014, the construction company is carrying out enabling works before starting on the steel stage.
The project is slated for completion in early 2016.
Barr construction director Paul Griffen told The Construction Index: "We have just completed site clearance and enabling works and we will be seeking to work with local labour, suppliers and subcontractors wherever possible on this project."
