5. Desteldonk to Opwijk Hydrogen Pipeline

The project involves the construction of a 44km hydrogen pipeline between Desteldonk, located in the province of East Flanders and Opwijk, located in the province of Flemish Brabant, Flanders region, Belgium.

Construction work started in Q1 2023 and is expected to be completed in Q4 2023.

The project aims to increase security of supply for Belgium and neighboring country’s in the context of modified gas flows. The pipeline is also the first concrete step in Fluxys’ ambition to accelerate the energy transition and it will be fully future-proof and will be immediately available for hydrogen transport as soon as the market is ready.
