The UK’s construction industry registered a 1.7% rise in IT hiring activity in September 2022 when compared with the previous month, according to GlobalData’s Job Analytics database.

The industry’s overall hiring increased by 4.62% in September 2022 when compared with August 2022.

Out of the construction industry’s total hiring activity, IT jobs claimed a 6.39% share in September 2022, recording a decrease of 0.26% over the last three-month average share.

1) Database and Network Administrators and Architects recorded a share of 46.42% in September 2022, registering a 1.06% decline over the previous month.

2) Software and Web Developers, Programmers, and Testers claimed a 21.13% share, a decrease of 20.63% over the previous month.

3) Computer and Information Analysts held a share of 16.81%, registering a 5.21% rise from August 2022.

4) Computer Support Specialists captured a share of 6.49%, down 38.1% over the previous month.

Top five construction companies in the UK’s IT recruitment activity in September 2022

The top five companies, in terms of number of jobs as tracked by GlobalData, have accounted for a combined average decline of 16.35% share in the overall IT recruitment activity of the UK’s construction industry during September 2022 over August 2022.

Kier Group posted 159 IT jobs in September 2022 and registered a drop of 12.15% over the previous month, followed by Arup Group with 29 jobs and a 42% drop. Danfoss with 28 IT jobs and Mott MacDonald Group with 26 jobs, recorded a 9.68% decline and a 25.71% decrease, respectively, while Ferrovial recorded an increase of 14.29% with 24 job postings during September 2022.

Junior Level job postings dominate in September 2022

Junior Level jobs held a share of 67.72%, down by 8.13% from August 2022. Mid Level positions with a 24.63% share, registered an increase of 5.71% compared with the previous month.

In the third place was Entry Level job ads with 6.49% share, down 9.3% over August 2022, while Senior postings accounted for 1.16%, recording a month-on-month decline of 46.15%.
