Crown Group and MJR to develop Mastery by Crown Group project

Australian residential property developer Crown Group and Mitsubishi Jisho Residence (MJR) formed a strategic alliance to develop the new $500m Mastery by Crown Group community in Sydney.

Mastery by Crown Group will be located at 48 O’Dea Avenue in Waterloo and has been designed by Sydney-based architect Silvester Fuller, as well as Japanese architects Kengo Kuma and Koichi Takada.

The development will comprise five buildings offering 374 studio, one, two and three-bedroom apartments, as well as penthouses.


Benthem Crouwel Architects to design faculty building in Amsterdam

Benthem Crouwel Architects secured a tender to design a new faculty building for the University of Amsterdam’s Faculty of Science (FNWI).

With a 14,000m² area, this building will be located on Amsterdam Science Park, the Netherlands.

It will feature the Institute for Logic, Informatics Institute, Language and Computation, and the Innovation Center for Artificial Intelligence.

Proposal for Tulip tower submitted to City of London Corporation

A planning application was submitted to the UK’s City of London Corporation for the proposed public cultural attraction Tulip, which is to be built next to the Gherkin.

The 305.3m-high Tulip is proposed by J Safra Group and Foster + Partners, the respective owners and architects of the Gherkin.

The proposed structure is intended to serve as a visitor attraction within the City and enhance the Gherkin’s public offering.


University of Utah unveils $80m expansion plan for Rice-Eccles Stadium

The University of Utah in the US revealed details of the proposed expansion of the Rice-Eccles Stadium with an $80m investment.

The announcement follows an approval granted by the university’s Board of Trustees to a request to pursue bonding.

The proposed expansion is subject to financing approval and is expected to be completed before the beginning of the 2021 football season.


Expomobilia consortium wins bid to build Finland Pavilion at Expo 2020

A consortium comprising Expomobilia, JKMM Architects, Factor Nova, Beyond Limits and FiveCurrents won a tender to build the Finland Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai.

Named Snow Cape, the pavilion will be planned and built by the consortium on behalf of Business Finland.

Development of Snow Cape will be based on the themes of nature, innovation and sustainability.


McAvoy to construct new wing in Northumbria hospital

McAvoy was awarded a £15m contract for the offsite construction of a new wing at Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital in Cramlington, UK.

Spread over 6,500m², the three-storey building will be connected to the existing hospital.

Due for completion next year, the first floor of the building will accommodate one of the UK’s first purpose-designed Ambulatory Care units, while the other two floors will be built during the next phase of the development.
